WEEK 8 OF THE LAB NURSERY DIARIES
We hope that sharing some of our experiences with this litter will be fun for the new owners to read as well as informative to those thinking of purchasing a Lab puppy in the future or possibly breeding their Labrador Retriever.
WEEK #8 The Puppies Start Their New Lives
What happens during Week 8 with the litter:
- The puppies have their eyes examined at the vet school.
- Puppies are now on 3 meals per day.
- Puppies get play time in x-pens outside (weather permitting).
- Some of the puppies will start leaving this week for their new homes.
3/25/05 Happy Seven Week Birthday to the puppies!
3/27/05 Happy Easter! The puppies got another new toy (a plush duck) which they had a lot of fun with. It was a beautiful day here and they spent most of the day outside.
3/29/05 The puppies had their eye exams today at the University of Wisconsin Vet School. The eye exams are to check for congenital/hereditary abnormalities such as retinal folds, juvenile cataracts, etc. None of these problems was detected fortunately. Then we were off to Deb's work to pay a visit, something we do with every litter. Doctors and nurses came pouring out of the clinic to visit and hold the puppies -- we made a few kids smile while we were there as well.
Honey was the first to leave. She will now be called Jasmine.
Flirt. It's official -- Flirt is staying here with us at Dunn's Marsh. She has some big shoes to fill as sadly we had to put our sweet Rosie (black Lab) to sleep yesterday due to liver cancer.
3/31/05 Mr. Green Jeans left with his new family.
He has been renamed Zeus.
4/10/05Tango with his co-owners before he leaves for his new life in Ohio.
