WEEK 3 OF THE LAB NURSERY DIARIES
We hope that sharing some of our experiences with this litter will be fun for the new owners to read
as well as informative to those thinking of purchasing a Lab puppy in the future or possibly breeding their Labrador Retriever.
WEEK #3 The Puppies Turn Into Toddlers!
2/18/05 Happy Two Week Birthday to the puppies!
What happens during Week 3 with the litter:
- "Super puppy" exercises continue until the 16th day.
- Eyes and ears are open.
- Puppies are standing and will start walking.
- Puppies start vocalizing more.
- Puppies are starting to play with each other.
- Puppies increase in weight by 2 to 3 ounces per day
- By end of week 3, teeth may be coming in.
- By end of week 3, puppies would be capable of lapping up formula
from a bowl (but we don't wean them this early).
2/20/05 We got up this a.m. to find all of the puppies walking around in the whelping box.
2/22/05 The puppies get cuter every day. Here are a few candids taken today.
This is "Mr. Green".
Yellow boy.
The yellow girl lounging with a couple of her siblings.
2/22/05 The puppies are starting to interact with each other more. Yellow girl is "caught" grabbing black girl's tail.
2/24/05 We can feel some teeth starting to come in on some of the puppies. The puppies seem to love to snuggle with the toys Ali brings them.
